IST 2006 conference - Strategies for Leadership
21 - 23 November 2006 Helsinki, Finland
The IST 2006 Conference Programme looks at one of the central questions facing European competitiveness today from two different angles.
"Creating a virtuous cycle between ICT research innovation and socio-economic benefits"
IST 2006 is being held as the Commission launches FP7, its Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development (see the EU's IST research programmes), so one of the main themes of the event will be FP7's ICT objectives and procedures.
Workshops and Networking Sessions on Sensor Data Fusion
Coordinator: Su-Birm PARK, ProFusion2 subproject leader
The benefit of sensor data fusion is that compared to single sensor systems the system performance is better with regard to higher accuracy, reliability, completeness or confidence. In the area of e-safety sensor data fusion is aimed to increase the robustness (reducing false alarm rates) and the availability (operative scenarios) of preventive and active safety functions.
Sensor data fusion supports various applications and function fields and is best implemented as a horizontal activity running in front (timely) of other application or function driven projects. Sensor data fusion is not limited to the automotive area, but this area will be one of the main drivers for sensor data fusion.
