D12.72.2 DWS Implementation and Integration Report

Executive summary More and more vehicles are equipped with navigation systems every year. But so far, the potential of map usage has not been exploited yet because in-vehicle map databases do not contain safety related data and are still not accessible by other applications than navigation.
The MAPS&ADAS subproject within the EC PReVENT Project seeks to develop and validate both appropriate methods for the collection, maintenance and provision of ADAS content enhanced digital map databases to be used in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and navigation applications, as well as a standard interface from navigation systems or general positioning and map systems towards ADAS that make use of map data (e.g.for track preview purposes). Within the MAPS&ADAS WP12.700 work package, the implementation of the ADASIS interface, a sample application, an ADASIS interface test container and a Driver Warning system are carried out.
This deliverable D12.72.2 describes the implementation environment and the realized Driver Warning application (hardware, software and protocols needed to carry out the Hot Spot and Speed Limit Warning system, based on data provided by the ADASIS API). Processes and tools have been developed for ADAS related content acquisition and storage. A dedicated digital map has then been built based on the map requirements for the Hot Spot Warning (HSW) and Speed Limit Warning (SLW) applications which will then been tested in WP 12.800 at the Lower Saxony test site. The in-vehicle platform for the driver warning system with hot spots and speed limit information has been developed via existing or near-future navigation platforms. This system has been successfully integrated in a test car, which is equipped with additional devices, needed for the assessment of safety effects of the DWS system in WP12.900.
