Technical abstract
SASPENCE (Safe Speed & Safe Distance) is an integrated project aimed at developing a system to support the driving task, focusing on providing information relating to safe speed and distance dependent on the detected road conditions. The System Architecture Activity contributes to the SASPENCE project by defining how the specified SASPENCE system is to be implemented in the SASPENCE demonstrator vehicles.
This document details the approach employed in the design of the System Architecture by first listing the reasons behind the choice of the physical components proposed for the system, before going on to interface the components together to form the physical SASPENCE system. Each component is further described in detail
and a communications specification provided for use in the system.
