Summary
The goal of the APALACI subproject within the PReVENT framework is the development of systems for a substantial reduction of number and severity of traffic accidents by means of advanced pre-crash functionalities. The focus of the project is primarily on protection of vehicle occupants.
One of the main initial project goals of APALACI is the development of applications with a clear step forward in terms of robustness and reliability. Therefore the partners have invested a considerable effort and expertise to come to innovative solutions. Different sensor technologies and fusions were analysed to realize
different Pre-crash application, called Collision mitigation, Pre-fire and Pre-set. A specific truck application for start inhibit has been developed using a similar sensor set. This document describes the further use of achieved results after the PReVENT project. The following chapter deals about the future of occupant safety comparable to APALACI functions. An overview of the technology deployment plan of APALACI knowledge and results by each partner is given in the chapter 3.
