eSafety in a joint industry-public sector initiative to improve road safety by using Intelligent Vehicle Safety Systems.
Its objective is to join forces to build up a European strategy for accelerating research and development as well as the deployment of existing and new technologies.
Established in early 2003 by the Commission in close co-operation with the industry, industrial associations and public sector stakeholders, the eSafety Forum is a joint platform involving all road safety stakeholders. Its general objective is to promote and monitor the implementation of the recommendations identified by the eSafety Working Group and to support the development, deployment and use of intelligent integrated road safety systems.

eScope is an "eSafety Observatory" established by the European Commission to monitor and stimulate the eSafety initiative's progress and activities. The observatory is an easily accessible and up-to-date resource for information on the latest eSafety topics.
eScope comprises three main activities aimed at mobilising the commitment of the eSafety community:
- Monitoring progress on implementation of the 28 eSafety priority Recommendations and of the eSafety “Road Maps" to be agreed
- Providing an overview of European emerging results on eSafety priority topics
- Creating awareness and dissemination
eScope has set up a network of eScope Advisors and Observers to report progress on eSafety activities both on a national and international scale.
