The second INSAFES plenary meeting took place on 6 December 2005 in the BOSCH premises in Frankfurt.
The INSAFES consortium is putting a strong focus towards functional definition. Indeed, it is seen as a real challenge to integrate the selected PReVENT functions in the demonstrators. Indeed, the final demonstration is planned to show together a series of application working together with a sensor platform: Safe Distance, Safe Speed, Lane Keeping, Lane Change assistant, Blind spot monitoring, Lateral Collision warning, Rear-end Collision mitigation, Local wireless danger, etc...
The main result from the meeting was the preliminary definition of functions to be integrated in the two demonstrator vehicles and also a clear workplan on how to proceed with work related to user needs and system requirements, especially in relation to the preliminary defined functions.
The INSAFES consortium plans to use the existing basis for the system design work, starting from the different Phase 1 PReVENT subprojects and especially the PROFUSION framework. Naturally, the integrated system design concept needs to be further refined within INSAFES in order to enable the functional integration in the most appropriate way and avoid HMI overload.
