PReVAL 1st Worskhop - Results
The workshop took place in the premises of TNO in Delft on Monday and Tuesday 22-23.1.2007. Participants from PReVAL, PReVENT subprojects and other related projects and activities were invited for the workshop. In total 27 persons participated.
The workshop started with a general session on Monday morning, with presentations on the PReVAL project and the related projects (TRACE, eIMPACT, APROSYS, AIDE LAVIA). At the end of the session some discussion points for focus groups were presented.
Focus group discussions were held in 3 sessions: one session on Monday morning and two sessions on Tuesday morning. The themes of the focus groups were the same as the workpackages: technical performance, HMI functionality and safety potential. During the focus groups, the work performed during the first tasks of the PReVAL project was reviewed, and the work for the next steps initiated. The results of the discussions will be published in the deliverable D16.1, which will be made available on the project's website.
The discussion with eIMPACT and TRACE representatives was very fruitful and some connection points with mutual interest were pointed out. The most important cooperation is the accident data that TRACE has kindly agreed to provide for both to PReVAL and eIMPACT. The classification of accident data was one main discussion topic and close cooperation will continue in future to ensure the synergy among the projects and to avoid any extra work caused for TRACE or double work conducted in PReVAL or eIMPACT.
To conclude, the 1st PReVAL Workshop presented a unique and productive platform – from which first level discussions could be initiated on methodological issues that lie at the heart of the PReVAL project as a whole. The attending participants found the two days highly enriching and engaging; thereby allowing them to take forward key contacts and ideas, definitions and time-plans for future work.
