PReVENT in Action!
Twenty-five experimental vehicles demonstrating high-tech integrated in-vehicle safety applications: don’t let anything PReVENT you from attending the IP PReVENT Exhibition in Versailles, France from 18-22 September 2007.
Advanced safety technologies will make vehicles and roads safer
With vehicles, technologies and experts galore, the IP PReVENT consortium will coach and enlighten you with a one-of-a-kind exhibition of its work. Mark your calendars for 18-22 September 2007, in Versailles, France, to visit PReVENT’s own “palace of innovation.”
The Integrated Project PReVENT (PReVENTive and Active Safety Applications) is developing and demonstrating integrated in-vehicle safety applications using state-of-the-art sensors, maps and communication systems.
Its exhibition is the final showcase culminating four years of project activities and is scheduled in collaboration with the European Commission’s i2010: Intelligent Car Initiative. Advanced safety technologies can make vehicles and roads safer by helping to avoid accidents and minimize injuries when accidents occur.
Taking place at the Versailles MOV'EO Test Track facility, the PReVENT event will feature 23 experimental cars, two trucks and a series of simulation platforms demonstrating all of the IP PReVENT preventive and active safety applications, including:
- Safe speed and safe following
- Lateral support
- Intersection safety
- Collision mitigation
In addition, the following cross-functional results will also be exhibited:
Code of practice for development of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
ADAS interface and use of safety maps for enhanced ADAS
Sensor data fusion (steps towards environment perception)
Evaluation of ADAS
A large “Exhibition Village” will gather everything under one roof and provide the perfect opportunity for participants to meet the masterminds behind the PReVENT technology.
Something for all!
The event has been organised to appeal to a broad audience, involving not only those working in the preventive and active safety fields, but also high-level politicians and decision-makers, as well as the general public.
Opening Day: Tuesday, 18 September
hosting the i2010 Intelligent Car event 2007 and the 8th eSafety Forum Plenary Meeting
The opening day will feature DG Information Society Commissioner Viviane Reding as well as other movers and shakers from IP PReVENT partners, eSafety Forum and representatives from ministries of transport of EU member states. After a ribbon-cutting ceremony kicking off the exhibition in grand style, the event will include a press conference to be held in collaboration with the i2010: Intelligent Car Initiative event. The eSafety Forum will also hold its plenary meeting on this day.
Expert Days: Wednesday and Thursday, 19-20 September
The second and third days will encompass extensive demonstrations of all 25 test vehicles. The MOVEO test track includes a variety of circuits, including a speed track, 3.4 km road track, the curvy and uneven “Val d’Or” roadway, as well as collision mitigation and intersection tracks, providing an opportune chance to witness the technology in action. A conference with technical presentations and discussion panels covering PReVENT results is planned as well. Guided tours are also planned to provide a full hands-on experience.
The 21-22 September 2007 will be dedicated to raise public awareness. Universities, Automobile clubs members and general public are targeted. The details for these days will be provided in a future newsflash.

The Integrated Project PReVENT is a European automotive industry activity co-funded by the European Commission to contribute to road safety by developing and demonstrating preventive safety applications and technologies.
Preventive safety applications help drivers to avoid or mitigate an accident through the use of in-vehicle systems which sense the nature and significance of the danger, while taking the driver’s state into account.
