Successful WILLWARN workshop in Boeblingen !


WILLWARN (Wireless Local Danger Warning)

 

A successful final workshop and demo was carried out at Boeblingen on Nov. 15th. WILLWARN results were presented by slide presentations and a vehicle demo on a street network nearby the DCA office. Visitors were the PReVENT Management team, the responsible EU officer Mrs. Holmberg, and other PReVENT Subproject Leaders.

A road demo with 6 cars, an obstacle car, and a Road Side Unit showed the function of hazard warning dissemination by WLAN communication in a dynamic vehicle ad-hoc network.

By a Demo Graphic User Interface the Hazard database of the surrounding was visualized in all cars and showed the operation of the Warning Message Management.

 

 


The hazards shown in the demo were caused by an obstacle car close to the road, fog area (simulated by sign), a construction site area, and slippery road. Hazards warnings were generated by the drivers, by switching on the emergency flashlights or the fog-lights.


 

 

Drivers were warned by the WILLWARN HMI early before they met the dangerous spots.

 

 


The test track was driven three times with the visitors. After each round the visitor could change the cars.

 

 

WILLWARN ends in January 2007 but the WILLWARN team will contribute to the PReVENT exhibition in Versailles in Sept. 2007, where a similar demo is shown.
