Co—Chairs: Matthias Schulze — DaimlerChrysler AG Fabrizio Minarini — European Commision, DG Information Society
Special session presentations:
-
"Policy and scientific and technological basis of PReVENT Integrated Project" Presentation by Fabrizio Minarini, responsible Project officer at the European Commission Abstract: This presentation will set the scene for the following presentations and will introduce the underlying EU policy.
-
"PReVENT - Preventive and Active Safety Applications to improve traffic safety" Presentation by Matthias Schulze, PReVENT IP coordinator and Senior Manager at DaimlerChrysler Research, "Telematics Functions" Department, Germany Abstract: This presentation will introduce the aims of PReVENT and the PReVENT approach for improving traffic safety. The PReVENT subprojects will shortly be described.
-
"Accident avoidance potential of INTERSAFE intersection safety systems" Presentation by Kay Fuerstenberg, INTERSAFE subproject leader, IBEO Automobile Senspor GmbH, Germany Abstract: The research on intersection safety systems is a major part of PReVENT and is dealt with in the subproject INTERSAFE.This presentation is first dealing with the accident avoidance potential of these systems, starting with a view on accident statistics and deriving from there the technical requirements on intersections safety systems. An overview will be given on how these systems could look like. This presentation complements presentation of Kay Fuerstenberg in another session of this conference, where he will focus on the technical aspects of intersection safety systems.
-
"ProFusion 1&2 - Sensor data fusion for reliable environment sensing" Presentation by Dr. Su Birm Park, PROFUSION subproject leader, Delphi Electronics Germany Abstract: This presentation will introduce innovative concepts for sensor data fusion, that are under development in PReVENT as the basis for reliable safety systems.
