Technical Abstract Wireless local danger warning needs a vehicle based detection of hazards and safety relevant traffic situations on highways and rural roads. Jams, accidents, speed drop, obstacles are to mention as well as road surface conditions and weather conditions like ice, snow, rain, and fog. Situations that need to be detected and related sensors are identified in the previous task. Algorithms for hazard detection and detection of dangerous weather conditions are developed based on available vehicle data like speed profiles, lights, wipers, temperature, and status of systems like ESP, ABS and ASR from the CAN-bus. Integration of further sensors for vehicle dynamics and environment state extends the capability of the hazard detection and will thus be considered. Based on the sensor information an endangering decision matrix is developed
