Executive summary
The PReVENT LATERAL SAFE (LS) Evaluation and Assessment Deliverable presents the results from the tests which were performed so as to evaluate the functionality, expected impact and acceptance of three LATERAL SAFE applications, namely Lane Change Assistance, Lateral Collision Warning and Lateral and Rear Monitoring.
The three final systems have been extensively tested in real tests on-road, so as to evaluate their technical performance, expressed in false and missing alarms. Moreover, a number of drivers have been involved in on-road and driving simulator tests using the LATERAL SAFE applications under various predefined traffic scenarios. The changes in their driving behaviour when using the system, as compared to when driving without the system, have been studied, so as to capture the possible effects on traffic safety. Their acceptance has been captured through dedicated questionnaires.
