Abstract
Within the PReVENT subproject COMPOSE, one application aims at collision mitigation of cars by means of autonomous braking in case of inevitable pedestrian accidents or rear-end collisions. Therefore COMPOSE will exploit the fact that technical systems are capable of reacting much faster than human drivers, what allows an essential improvement of road safety due to innovative, vehicle-based collision mitigation systems and road user protection mechanisms.
